Peanuts

Peanuts grow in tropical and subtropical climates, between 40ºN to 40ºS of the equator, and are cultivated in over one hundred countries across all five continents which makes it one of the leading agricultural crops in the world.  The major producers of peanuts are China, India, the United States, Nigeria, Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal and Brazil, total global production exceeds 50m metric tons per annum.  However, the vast majority of this is for domestic consumption with exports amounting to only 2.5m metric tons per annum.

Peanuts are grown for their high quality edible oil as well as for their use for human consumption and fodder.  There are four main types of peanut; Spanish, Runner, Virginia, and Valencia, each with its own particular characteristics of flavour, oil content , size and shape, which lend themselves to different uses. We specialise in sourcing from most origins for edible peanuts and for wild bird feeding.
